CERT training to be offered in Pacific County

The CERT program is an all-risk, all-hazard training designed to help residents protect themselves, their family, neighbors andneighborhood in an emergency situation.

SOUTH BEND — The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency will offer a free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course in Raymond at the Grays Harbor College Riverview Center in Raymond.

Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, Sunday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Nov. 5, with the final class from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6.

The CERT program is an all-risk, all-hazard training designed to help residents protect themselves, their family, neighbors and neighborhood in an emergency situation.

CERT members receive 20 hours of initial training provided free of charge. Topics include Disaster Preparation, Fire Safety, Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology and CERT organization. The course is taught with classroom instruction for the first three days and practical exercises on the last day.

Participants under the age of 18 must have parent/guardian permission to attend.

Pre-registration is required and is limited to 20 participants.
