Central Elementary School principal Denise Pearl submitted a letter of resignation to the Hoquiam School Board late in March.
The letter stated her resignation would be effective June 30. Hoquiam School Superintendent Mike Villarreal said her husband, a pilot, was reassigned to Portland, Ore., and Pearl has already secured a principal position in the Woodland School District, located midway between Vancouver and Longview along the I-5 corridor.
“Denise is one of the finest educators I’ve met,” said Villarreal. As for the search for a replacement, “we are currently reviewing applications and looking for a match,” he said.
In her letter, Pearl thanked Villarreal and the school board for her experience at Central.
“I appreciate the opportunity for growth and development you have provided during my tenure,” she wrote. “Thank you for your guidance and support.”
