County Department of Public Defense to hold community forum

The Grays Harbor County Department of Public Defense is holding a community forum on Wednesday, May 7, at noon in the Commissioners Meeting Room, in the Grays Harbor County administration building located at 100 W. Broadway in Montesano.

The forum will include a presentation from the public defense director on the history and constitutional foundations of public defense, as well as an opportunity for the public to meet department of public defense staff and panel attorneys.

All are welcome. Light snacks will be provided.

GH-AVERT/CERT offers beginning in-home disaster planning

The Grays Harbor Auxiliary Volunteer Emergency Response Team / Community Emergency Response Team is conducting a free Beginning In-Home Disaster Planning workshop at three different times on Wednesday, May 14, in the Ocean Shores Fire Department training room.

Attendees will learn what a “go-bag” is and how to create one for you and your pets in case of an emergency, and will have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session. Examples of go-bags will be on display.

The workshop is sponsored by the Ocean Shores Fire Department and presented by the Ocean Shores Grays Harbor Auxiliary Volunteer Emergency Response Team, “citizen volunteers who are CERT trained and work with local fire and police departments throughout Grays Harbor County.”
