Aberdeen Police for the first time revived an overdose victim with Narcan — a spray made to revive victims of opioid overdoses — Tuesday afternoon in an apartment on the 200 block of North F Street.
After finding the 23-year-old man flat on his back in a bathroom, a woman called 911. She told responders she believed the man, whose last known address was in Elma, may have been on heroin and she knew he had used in the past. Seeing the man had a good pulse but his pupils were “pinpoint and non-reactive, indicating narcotics use,” said Aberdeen Police Lt. Kevin Darst, a police officer sprayed four milligrams of Narcan into the man’s nose. About two or three minutes later the man began “labored breathing.”
The Aberdeen Fire Department arrived and began life support on the man before transporting him to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital emergency room for treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
