Aberdeen School Board approves 2020-21 schedule

Gov. Inslee to visit AHS on Feb. 12

The Aberdeen School Board has approved the 2020-21 district calendar and with Labor Day late on the calendar this year (Sept. 7) school will start before the holiday.

The first day of school will be Sept. 2, the Wednesday before Labor Day, so kids will get three days of school before the long weekend.

Summer lets out for the year next June 15. Winter Break is scheduled for Dec. 21-31 and Spring Break will be April 5-9.

The schedule includes eight teacher collaboration days when students will be released early including Sept. 23, Oct. 28, Dec. 9, Jan. 13, Feb. 10, March 10, April 14 and May 12. Students will also be released early on Dec. 18 and the last day, June 15.

Schools will be closed on Feb 16 for teacher professional development. May 7 is listed as a possible weather makeup day.

Governor to visit AHS

Superintendent Alicia Henderson announced that Gov. Jay Inslee will visit Aberdeen next Wednesday, Feb. 12. The visit will include a discussion with Aberdeen High School students about post-secondary education in the school gym at 11 a.m.
