7th St. Kids virtual curtain goes up Friday

Online performances for two weekends

7th Street Kids offered an online theater camp this year and performances are scheduled for this weekend and next.

“Tune in to see what our amazing kids have been working on while staying socially distant!” says Beth Barene, a member of the 7th St. Kids board of directors. “For the past six weeks, 7th Street Kids have been working from home to realize their theater dreams, no theater required!”

“The Big One-Oh Online Edition,” based on Dean Pitchford’s book, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7 and 8, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9.

Here’s a peek at the plot: Charley Maplewood is turning 10 and, despite his lack of actual human friends, decides to throw himself a house-of-horrors themed party. His plans go wonky and Charley scrambles to turn things around before things become a complete disaster.

The weekend of Aug. 14, the presentation will consist of song and dance vignettes from several different shows. including selections from “Shrek, The Musical,” “Annie,” “Newsies,” “Peter Pan” and “Legally Blonde.”

Performances both weekends will be available online only at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for “The Big One-Oh Online Edition” are available now and tickets for the vignettes production will be online Aug. 10.

Tickets for any of the performances are $5 each and available at the group’s website, 7thstreetkids.org. Upon completing your ticket purchase, you will receive a code to dial in to the webinar-style viewing platform.
