In a 36-foot trailer decorated with multi-colored Christmas lights, the Harbor Plywood corporation’s 26-piece band last night toured the downtown and residential districts of Aberdeen and Hoquiam, playing carols.
Sponsored by the company, the band is directed by Norman Street, former Montesano high school music director. It was organized in July. Today, the band played two concerts for Harbor Plywood employes in the plant.

Winter got off to a gusty start Monday, and it its wake, a crane barge was aground near Taholah this morning, the South Beach was out of power for 95 minutes and snow forced a closure to logging in Simpson Timber Co. camps in the upper Wynooche.
A barge loaded with three cranes and a grader broke loose from its tugboat at 2 a.m. today and went aground on a sandy beach. Its owner, the Vancouver, (B.C.) Tug Co. dispatched another tug to pull the barge off the beach.
The Coast Guard, whose personnel tried without success to put a sand anchor on it, reported that the 235-foot barge was being towed from El Salvador to Vancouver, B.C.

It must be Christmas.
When Elma Lanes owner Henry Dawson reported earlier this week his business sustained $200,000 to $300,000 in flood damage, his rival in Montesano came to the rescue.
Monte Lanes owner Walt Pullar has agreed to let Elma Lanes use its facility several days a week until Elma Lanes is repaired or relocated.
The Elma bowling leagues can finish their season using Montesano Lanes all day Thursday, all day on Sundays and when there are spots open on other days.
