Woof-a-thon 2020 canceled

The Woof-a-thon board of directors has decided to cancel this year’s event, which had been scheduled for Aug. 8 at North Beach Jr./Sr. High School in Ocean Shores.

The Woof-a-thon board of directors has decided to cancel this year’s event, which had been scheduled for Aug. 8 at North Beach Jr./Sr. High School in Ocean Shores.

The nonprofit organization was founded in 2012 to raise funds for animal-related charities around the Harbor.

“We felt it was the right decision with the current state of things and with the unknowns about coming months,” said board member Patrick Spike. “We plan to put on the event again the following year.”

Given the loss of this major fundraising event, donations are greatly needed. Contributions may be made online through www.oceanshoreswoofathon.org, or by mail to P.O. Box 1664, Ocean Shores WA 98569. Donations will be divided and disbursed to selected charities that also are struggling.

“This crisis is affecting all of us in various profound ways,” said Spike. “Let’s seek out ways to be kind and supportive to all.”

Board President Mike Preston noted that updates will be posted on the group’s website and Facebook page.
