Three Boy Scouts earn Eagle rank

Three young men recently became Eagle Scouts, the highest youth rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America.

To make Eagle, Scouts must meet numerous requirements — not the least of which is planning and leadership of a community service project.

Dane Norberg, 18, of Troop 7 in Central Park, earned his Eagle on May 21. He was responsible for construction of an ADA-compliant sidewalk for the Central Park United Methodist Church. His parents are Kristi and Scott Norberg.

Justin Gay, 18, of Troop 14 in Elma, made Eagle on May 21. His project involved the installation of solar-powered caution lights near Elma Schools. His parents are Laurie and Tracy Gay.

John Russo, 17, of Troop 100 in Hoquiam, earned his rank March 5. His Eagle project involved the restoration and revitalization of the old section of Sunset Memorial Park. His parents are Debra Rathbone and Jon Russo.
