Special Delivery

When officials at Channel Point Village in Hoquiam learned that a number of their residents once worked for the U.S. Postal Service, it seemed like a perfect opportunity for a party. So, on Oct. 30, the retirement community hosted a “Special Delivery Reunion Lunch” for retired and current postal workers.

“Our residents have been, and still are, active members of the community. It’s important to recognize those contributions and support retirees with maintaining their connections to their friends, co-workers, jobs and hobbies,” said Executive Director Maggie Birmingham.

Hoquiam Postmaster Gordon Williams also helped organize the event.

Those in attendance either work at or are retired from the Hoquiam, Aberdeen, Cosmopolis, Raymond and Copalis Crossing post offices. Shared experiences on the job helped to bridge any gaps. In just a few short minutes people were exchanging stories and laughing.

Another reunion lunch is tentatively scheduled for July 1, National Postal Worker Day.
