Polson to host book signing

Author Pete Replinger will sign his newly published book, “The Schafer Brothers: Pioneer Loggers of the Satsop Valley.”

The Polson Museum will host Pete Replinger from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday for a signing of his newly published book, “The Schafer Brothers: Pioneer Loggers of the Satsop Valley.”

The 250-page book is chock full of historic photos, maps and other ephemera related to this storied Harbor logging firm.

“It is by far the most comprehensive book on the Schafers since Stuart Holbrook published ‘Half Century in the Timber’ way back in 1945,” said museum director John Larson.

The book is available at the Polson for $39.95 in softback or $79.95 in hardback. This is a limited run, with only a handful produced.

Included with every book is a DVD made from the 1925 Schafer Bros. 16mm film “A Story of West Coast Lumber,” which Larson said may be the most comprehensive film ever produced on 1920s logging in the Northwest.
