Parenting class offered in Hoquiam

A parenting class is scheduled by the My TOWN Coalition for parents and care givers of 9- to 14-year-olds.

“Guiding Good Choices” is a five-week course that will focus on increasing parenting skill, working to improve family bonds and on teaching children to resist peer influences.

“Teen transition years are challenging for everyone,” said Wilma Weber, My TOWN coordinator. “But, there’s a lot we can do as parents and as caregivers of young people. We probably have more influence in their lives than any other person that they’re going to meet. This course helps develop or reinforce successful communication.”

The course will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on five consecutive Tuesdays, starting Oct. 16, at the Hoquiam Middle School library.
