Music scholarships awarded

The Grays Harbor Music Teachers Association Scholarship Committee has selected four scholarship recipients for 2019:

Kendall Cavin, of Cosmopolis, will receive $1,800. She plans to major in theater and music and minor in dance at Whitworth University in Spokane.

Ben Fagerstedt, of Aberdeen, will receive $1,500. He plans to minor in music at Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland.

Kendra Gross, of Hoquiam, will receive $500. She is completing her coursework in music therapy at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle.

Amanda Ransom, also of Aberdeen, will receive $1,500. She plans to major in music at Grays Harbor College and later transfer to a university.

These awards are available to eligible students from Grays Harbor and Pacific counties who are majoring or minoring in music or musical theater at any college. The funds come from the proceeds of Musicale, the nonprofit association’s annual benefit concert, held in January.

“The scholarship amounts vary from year to year, depending upon donations from the community,” said Christine Hill, co-chair of the GHMTA Scholarship Committee.
