HAVA seeks volunteers

The Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals is looking to build its volunteer base.

Raymond’s no-kill animal shelter is growing and needs help ranging from providing lcare to the animals, to public relations, to grant-writing.

”Our once small and somewhat insignificant little shelter has grown into a very much needed service in both Pacific and Grays Harbor counties,” said Dee Roberts, president of HAVA. “Even though we are located in Raymond, we are often called upon to help folks in Aberdeen, Montesano and beyond.”

People over 18 are needed. Children may volunteer at the shelter, but must be accompanied by an adult.

“It doesn’t have to be a huge commitment,” said Roberts. “Even one shift, one day a week is helpful.”

If interested, please email a brief letter of interest to HAVA at hava@hava-heart.org. For more information, call 360-942-4716 or stop by the shelter at 431 Second St. in Raymond. It’s open Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 am. to 2 p.m.
