Entries sought for Quilts on Willapa show

Area quilters are encouraged to enter their work in the Willapa Harbor Quilters’ annual show in early August.

“Quilts on the Willapa” will run Aug. 4-5 at Raymond High School, 1016 Commercial St. The show is open to all quilters.

Quilt registration will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 1 at the First Baptist Church of Raymond, 913 Duryea St. Those who cannot register at that time should call 360-942-2910 or 360-875-6506 to make other arrangements.

Besides bed-size quilts, the show will feature items such as table runners, pillows and wall hangings. A particular feature this year will be patriotic quilts made for local veterans.

The group’s 2017 raffle quilt, “Wonderful Wild Washington,” also will be on display.

A boutique table will be available for members to show and sell their items.

There is no admission charge for the quilt show. However, the group welcomes donations to help cover the cost of hiring students to set up and take down the displays.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Those who register quilts or other items for the show will be asked to pick up their entries after 5 p.m. Saturday.

Willapa Harbor Quilters meet most Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. at the Raymond Baptist Church. Interested quilters and sewing enthusiasts are always welcome to drop in for tips and techniques, and to see what others are doing.
