Driftwood auditions set for teen lead

The director is looking for a male between the ages of 12 and 18 to play Christopher in “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.”

Auditions are being held Saturday, Jan. 11, for the lead role in the Driftwood Players’ next production: “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.”

The director is looking for a male between the ages of 12 and 18 to play Christopher in this two-act play by Mark Haddon. This young man has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptional at mathematics, but is ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road. He detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. But now, seven minutes after midnight, Christopher stands beside his neighbor’s dead dog, Wellington, who has been speared with a garden fork. Finding himself under suspicion, he carefully records each fact of the crime. His detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a thrilling journey that upturns his world.

Auditions will begin at 10 a.m. Jan. 11 at the Driftwood Playhouse, 120 E. Third St., Aberdeen.

Other roles will be available for five men and five women ages 20 to 70, but those auditions will be held next month — at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, and at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. The show will open in May.
