Lily Lane Farm will host its third annual Daylily Days this weekend as owners Monte and Loni Hooper celebrate their 20th year in business.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, visitors will be able to browse through garden-oriented arts and crafts booths, and walk through the farm’s fields to check out more than 150 daylily varieties currently in bloom.
“Daylilies are the perfect ‘brown thumb’ plant and are ideal for Northwest gardens,” said Monte.
Entry is free, and the farm is offering one free plant with each daylily purchase this weekend.
The Hoopers started Lily Lane in 1997 as a summer hobby, selling their extra flowers from a roadside stand. Today, they cultivate more than 230 varieties of daylilies.
Daylilies start blooming in May and continue until September. Mid-July is the prime season, with blossoms ranging from one to 12 inches in diameter on plants that can be 6 inches to 5 feet tall.
“This is the perfect time of year to shop and plant daylilies,” said Monte. “You can see the plants in their natural state here at the farm, and can see how well they will look in your own yard.”
Lily Lane Farm is located at 6 John Wayne Lane, just southwest of the Westport Winery along State Route 105. It’s open every weekend from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
