Circus coming to South Bend, Westport

Big cats, contortionists, the Wheel of Destiny and more will be under the big top when the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus comes to South Bend and Westport next week.

The Willapa Harbor Lions Club is sponsoring the South Bend performances on Tuesday, across the street from Chen’s Restaurant at 206 E. Robert Bush Road. Advance tickets are available at Willapa Harbor elementary schools, the Raymond Thriftway, and Pioneer Grocery in South Bend.

Wednesday’s Westport shows will be set up near the Tackle Box event center at 2680 Westhaven Drive. Tickets are available at the chamber office at 2985 S. Montesano St. and from members of the Ocosta School Parent Teacher Organization, which is sponsoring the show.

Showtimes both days are 5 and 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $7 for children ages 2 to 12 and seniors 65 and older, $12 for all others.

At the door, the prices are $8 for kids and seniors and $15 for all others. The box office will open one hour before showtime.

The performances feature classic and unique circus acts including unicycles, tight wire, clowns, performing animals, trapeze and more. According to the circus’ Facebook page, no seat under the big top is more than 40 feet away from the ring.

The concession stand will offer classic circus fare including hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, peanuts and soft drinks.
