Bishop Center opens new season with Unit Souzou

Unit Souzou offers a fusion of taiko-style drumming and Japanese folk dance.

On Thursday evening, Unit Souzou will open the new season at Grays Harbor College’s Bishop Center for the Arts.

Unit Souzou offers a fusion of taiko-style drumming and Japanese folk dance. “Souzou” can be written in three ways to mean “creation,” “imagination” or “noisy.” Inspired by these words, the group focuses on building creative and imaginative works using the art form of taiko.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $15, with children 12 and younger admitted free with a paying ticket holder.

Also coming up within the next couple of weeks at the Bishop Center:

• “Peter Pan,” a National Theatre Live presentation from London, will be shown on the big screen at 2 p.m. Sept. 24. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors.

• “God Is a Scottish Drag Queen,” a comedy by Mike Delamont, will be staged a7 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7. All tickets are $10.
