Shannon Renee Ortega, the daughter of Ron and Jamie Burch of Montesano, recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Shannon, a native of California, moved to Montesano with her family in early 2018. She worked at the Organics 101 store there and attended Grays Harbor College. She joined the Air Force earlier this year and now is attending tech school at Lackland. She plans to go into the medical field.
