Anne Feeney’s ‘Summer of Resistance’ tour coming to Hoquiam

She performs music that she says is designed to “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.”

Anne Feeney’s “Summer of Resistance Tour” is coming to Hoquiam’s Events on Emerson on Wednesday.

The Pittsburgh-based artist performs music she says is designed to “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.” Over the past 35 years, she has played at thousands of rallies, picket lines and demonstrations, including the 1999 World Trade Organization protests in Seattle.

Feeney’s music draws on Irish, bluegrass, traditional, labor, pop, folk and contemporary material. Her anthem, “Have You Been to Jail for Justice?” is featured on Peter, Paul and Mary’s CD “In These Times.”

The doors will open Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., and the performance will begin at 7. Admission is free, though donations will be accepted for KGHI-FM 91.1, Grays Harbor’s community radio station.
