50th anniversary

Carolyn and Ronald Barker

Grayland residents Carolyn and Ronald Barker celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 9 with a party at the Grayland Community Hall hosted by their children.

Carolyn Ogden and Ronald Barker were married Sept. 1, 1967, at the Aberdeen First United Methodist Church.

Carolyn graduated from Kelso High School in 1965. She was selected as Miss Grays Harbor in 1966 and worked as an interior design consultant for three different furniture stores on the Harbor. She now is the director of the Grayland Community Hall and has performed in and directed many theater productions.

Ron graduated from Mark Morris High School in Longview in 1963 and received his degree in civil engineering from Washington State University. After working for the city of Seattle, he took over the management of Maki Farm’s cranberry acreage. He continues to work in the cranberry industry.

The couple now has an entrepreneurial business with anti-aging products.

They have two children, Kimberly Hartsoch of Olympia and Darren Barker of Houston, Texas, as well as four grandchildren.
