Loggers Playday show still on

Loggers Playday show still on

On behalf of the Hoquiam Loggers Playday Committee, I would like to take a moment to let our community know that we are still working diligently toward putting on a show for you Sept. 12, 2020.

Our committee relies heavily on the generosity of local individuals and businesses. Their financial/labor/material support is what makes it possible for our show to continue year after year. Unfortunately, in the current economic state, we acknowledge that the support given us will not be as strong as it has been in recent years. For that reason, we are moving forward to prepare our show with some changes that will enable the best show possible for the least cost to those integral in putting it on.

The primary change that you will notice is that we are going back to our roots. We will provide a show for you where all of our contestants are local competitors. All of the prize money (donated by our local businesses) will be staying in our community with our local families. The next big change you will notice is that we are cutting back on our “Specialty Acts.” This effort will both save us money that we can give to our local contestants and shorten the time of our show.

In these unprecedented/uncertain times, we understand and respect that a decision to cancel the show may be made closer to our event date for the health and safety of our entire community. However, as a committee we’ve chosen to continue our preparations for your entertainment at this time, as it is a near year-long effort to organize this event each year.

Be well and stay healthy!
