Grays Harbor Mayors Prayer Breakfast 2019

Three years ago, Harbor Ministers Fellowship, with the help of Vini Samuel and me, re-launched the Grays Harbor Mayors Prayer Breakfast on the National Day of Prayer. This year the date is May 2nd, which is the National Day of Prayer for 2019.

I was privileged to co-chair the Governor’s prayer breakfast in Olympia my final two years in Olympia. I was impressed with the way it was able to bring together legislators of widely varying opinions in the spirit of peace and prayer, something I still think we need. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 says, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

By praying for our leaders we will help bring that spirit to our communities, just as has been happening since 1941 when then Gov. Arthur Langlie instituted the first Governor’s Prayer Breakfast. This event brings together elected officials, leaders from all parties in a non-partisan, non-issue oriented time to honor our Lord Jesus and pray for his guidance and blessing.

We are privileged to have Jamie Winship coming back to speak at our Prayer Breakfast again this year. Jamie Winship spoke at our event two years ago and inspired the attendees with his testimony of living for Jesus in Muslim countries. Jamie and Donna Winship lived and worked in the Muslim world since 1990. They have worked for various governments and organizations, but their overarching goal and desire has been to see the lives of people around them transformed by the saving power of God’s grace in Christ.

The event will again feature O’Brien’s catering and music by Angel Damasiewicz.

But mostly we are there to pray. To pray for our mayors and our county, state, and nation. Please join us and many local mayors and other elected officials as we pray for God’s wisdom and blessing.

The event will be at the Rotary Log Pavilion from 7-8:45 a.m. The cost is only $15. Check us out on Facebook by searching “Grays Harbor Mayors Prayer Breakfast 2019” and please call 360-538-0111 by Monday, April 29, to RSVP so that we will know how many to prepare for. My personal experience tells me that prayer does make a difference. The people of Grays Harbor are worth it; I believe it WILL make a difference.
