Educate yourselves on I-1631

The dirtiest carbon polluters are using economic scare tactics to defeat I-1631.

Please note on your voter pamphlet that 99 percent of the opponents are major out of state petroleum companies and proponents consist of health care organizations and champions of clean energy.

If Washington citizens do see an increase in their energy costs, it is because these oil companies will pass the carbon tax on to the consumer instead of paying it out of their record billions of dollars in profits.

Contaminated air and water does not differentiate between Democrats and Republicans, nor state or national boundaries. And there are ways that companies can receive partial or full credit for the tax by innovation and investment in clean energy sources.

It is time to demand that the largest polluters pay for their dirtiest energy sources.

If you haven’t voted yet, please educate yourself on this crucial initiative.
