Don’t miss Sunday market

Letter to the editor

Grays Harbor Fair is cancelled, so is the SW Washington Fair and the Puyallup Fair. We do have the Aberdeen Sunday Market on Broadway and Heron streets. At the market there is a smell of freshly grilled tacos, just popped caramel corn and just cooked elephant ears. Vendors are selling fresh fruit and vegetables plus crafts, sipping vinegar, wine, honey and ground coffee. The market starts at 10 a.m. and closes at 3 pm. on Sundays and Sept. 13 will be the last day this year.

Thank you to all our market supporters. On the Aberdeen Sunday Market website you can see it’s run by women. They have organized to create this public enterprise. There is also a facebook account with pictures and videos of each vendor’s products by Rick Moyer.

Usually set up starts at 8 a.m. to be ready by 10. The starting bell ringer is Lauren’s 3 year old boy Odie. There is much time and work planting, harvesting and weeding the vegetables, plants and fruits for sale. Dedicated organizers, vendors and faithful buyers makes the market a success.

For EBT clients the market matches your dollars. For $1 you get $2 to spend at the market. It’s a real bargain when most of the vegetable and fruit products are organic.

Come enjoy the Aberdeen Sunday Market. Soon it will freeze, putting an end to our gardens. Thank you to our market organizers, vendors and dedicated supporters!
