On Montesano’s City Forest, 22 acres is in riparian buffers, and a stop during the City Forest tour on July 15 featured a discussion of how City Forester John Bull manages the riparian buffers. A proposed buffer change on non-fish bearing waters is being considered by the Forest Practices Board, and the change would increase the width and length of these buffers. Bull has calculated the economic impact of this proposed change, and it could be up to $100,000 loss in revenue.
