TimberWorks’ flood risk reduction plan has been finalized and is up for Hoquiam and Aberdeen city council review next week. The massive plan includes improvements that not only would greatly relieve ongoing flood problems in both cities, it would also provide improved public access and salmon and wildlife habitat. Students mill outside the front entrance of Hoquiam High School shortly after a lockdown caused by a student claiming to have a weapon around 11 a.m. Tuesday. School officials and Hoquiam Police located the 14-year old student; a search turned up no weapon. The student was arrested for malicious mischief for damaging a door as he exited the school. The lockdown was lifted before noon.
