Aberdeen Mayor Pete Schave and Aberdeen City Administrator Ruth Clemens joined to make a declaration that March 2023 would be Red Cross Month in Aberdeen. In Feb. 2022, the Aberdeen Fire Department received an award— in joint partnership with other area fire departments — worked on what the American Red Cross called an “aggressive campaign,” to deliver smoke alarms to residents without a working one. AFD saved a man’s life in August 2021 when the alarm alerted the resident to an appliance that caught fire. (Matthew N. Wells / The Daily World)
