The public is invited to a grand-opening open house of a new bookstore — Harbor Books &Gifts — from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sat. Sept. 16, at 510 W. First St. in Aberdeen.

Harbor Books &Gifts will sell both new and used books as well as gift items.

There will be special discounts and hourly door prizes, a local authors’ showcase and book signing, as well as readings and refreshments. Local authors include Bill Lindstrom, Stephanie Hoffman McManus, Lois Arnold, Karen Harris Tully, Rita Traut Kabeto, Jan Bono and Gregory E. Zschomler.

The Harbor House Writing Center exists to serve and support the needs of writers through classes, workshops and editorial services, as well as public events for readers. Hours are Friday and Saturday, noon to 8 p.m.; Sunday -Monday, 2 to 6 p.m.; the store will be closed Tuesday through Thursday.
