Local Procurement workshop scheduled in Aberdeen

The Washington Procurement Technical Assistance Center, in coordination with the Washington State Department of Commerce, is offering workshops to assist local businesses in successfully winning government contracts with agencies in their own region. Government officials will explore how local awards boost local economies. Businesses will connect with local government representatives and learn methods to succeed at government contracting. Washington PTAC advisors will also provide tips on winning proposals. The workshops are free, but registration required.

GGHI to holds annual membership barbecue

Greater Grays Harbor Inc. is hosting a Membership Appreciation Barbecue that is open to all members of the organization. It will be at the GGHI office, located at 506 Duffy St. in Aberdeen on July 27 from 11 a.m. to 1.p.m.

The event will be an opportunity for anyone who would like to learn more about the organization and the programs offered or would like to attend and speak directly with staff members. Members are also encouraged to bring a friend or colleague who may be interested in learning more about GGHI.

Hoquiam Business Assoc. to host July monthly forum

Tthis month’s Hoquiam Business Association forum will be held at Chris’ Motorcycle, 525 Simpson Ave. in Hoquiam at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 25.

There have been questions about the petition to create a Business Improvement District in Hoquiam, and this is an opportunity to offer feedback at the July forum.

Forum atendees can also connect with area businesses, community leaders and like-minded professionals.

Light refreshments will be served.

GGHI seeking nominations for annual banquet

Greater Grays Harbor Inc. is seeking nominations for the 2018 Small, Large and New Business of the Year as well as Non-Profit Organization of the Year awards. Nominations will be accepted through Wednesday Aug.15. All nominations are completely confidential.

Once nominations are closed, there will be a final voting process that will determine the winners in each category. The winners will then be announced at the 127th annual Leaders Banquet & Business Recognition Awards on Oct. 12 at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores.

The annual event is meant to recognize excellence in Grays Harbor’s business community and economy. They awards are given to businesses and non-profits that have made exceptional contributions to their community and region or have impacted the business community in a positive way.

Tthe Elma Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of Ben Jamin Carpets at 115 W. Main St. in Elma.

Ben Jamin Carpets was established in 2016 and currently has two full-time employees. It is a family-owned and operated business.They would be happy to help you with all of your flooring needs. They have a large selection of carpet, linoleum and wood floors from which to choose.
