Silvan earns honor

Angie Silvan, the administrator for Westhaven Villa, an assisted living center in Aberdeen, and for Riverside Place, a memory care center in Hoquiam, has been named Administrator of the Year for the state of Washington by the Washington State Association of Activities Professionals.

The Grays Harbor locations also produced another statewide award winner. Tonya Hoffman was named activity support person of the year for the state.

Silvan began her career as a nursing aide at the Riverside location and worked her way up through several jobs over a period of years to the top spot. She went from being an aide 15 years ago, to an activities director, then worked in marketing, then was office manager and eventually became administrator for both properties.

The two facilities are owned by Caring Places Management, a Forest Grove, Ore.-based company that owns a dozen care facilities in Washington and Oregon.
