Harbor BOOKS has new ownership and location

Harbor BOOKS has a new location and new owners.

Harbor BOOKS in Aberdeen is changing hands, and moving to Hoquiam. The bookstore opened at 510 W. First Street in 2017. Melinda Einander recently purchased the store from Gregory and Ruth Zschomler, and has relocated it next to the Harborena skating rink at 2200 Simpson Ave. in Hoquiam. The new store opened May 1, but plans a grand opening event May 21 and 22.

“I’m excited for this new season in the life of Harbor Books,” says founder, Greg Zschomler. “Melinda seems to me to be just the person to move the Harbor’s bookstore forward.”

Gregory Zschomler and another local author, John H. Rhodes, will be on hand during the grand opening event to sign their books 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sat., May 22. Zschomler is the author of more than a dozen books. Rhodes, in his first signing, will present his debut book “The Trespasser, the Rescue, and the Family.”

Harbor BOOKS will continue to offer new and used books and the quality, five-star service you’ve come to expect. You can shop in person or at their secure online store, have items shipped, and order books not already in stock. Spring hours are Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with expanded summer hours beginning in June.

“I’m honored to be able to carry on the tradition of Harbor Books,” says Einander, “and am looking forward to the journey ahead!”

“Melinda is savvy, sharp, and friendly,” says Zschomler. “I have more confidence in her ability to run a bookstore than I had in myself. She’s going to be dynamite.”
