Westport Winery wins double golds

Westport Winery won multiple recognitions at the Great Northwest Invitational Wine Competition recently held in Hood River, Oregon.

Three 2017 cabernet sauvignons from the winery — Charterboat Chick, MV Endeavor and MV Argonaut — each received double gold medals (unanimous panel decisions).

Mike Sand elected chairman of CBW

Mike Sand, president and CEO of Timberland Bank, was elected chairman of the Board of the Community Bankers of Washington (CBW) during the group’s annual meeting held Sept. 20 in Stevenson.

Sand was elected as president and CEO of Timberland Bank and its holding company, Timberland

Bancorp Inc., in 2003. He began his banking career with Timberland in Hoquiam in 1977 when there were just four branch offices. The Bank now operates 24 branches located in Grays Harbor, Thurston, Pierce, King, Kitsap and Lewis counties.

Days Inn in Ocean Shores upgrades property

The Days Inn in Ocean Shores recently upgraded all 45 rooms there at the property, and is in the process of creating a business room in the lobby with fiber optics. It will be one of the first properties on the Ocean Shores to have fiber optics, bringing it one of the fastest internet networks in Ocean Shores.
