RYAN SPARKS | THE DAILY WORLD Aberdeen senior softball pitcher Lilly Camp made it official by signing a National Letter of Intent to play for Grand Canyon University after graduation. Family, friends, coaches and teammates attended a signing ceremony for Camp on Tuesday at Aberdeen High School. Camp, who verbally committed to the Phoenix, Arizona school last spring, had led Aberdeen to two-straight appearances in the 2A State Tournament and is considered one of the top pitchers in the class heading into the 2025 season. In a speech at the ceremony, Camp reflected on her softball journey and thanked her parents and the many coaches that helped her along the way. “Since I was little, I never knew that this was where I would end up. I have always dreamed of playing college softball and going DI. I am so excited this is where I ended up,” she said. “Through the people who didn’t believe in me and through the people that did, I am so happy and excited to say that I am continuing my career. … Thank you to all of my friends and family for supporting me as well and not telling me whether I should do this or I should do that. Everyone’s support means the world to me, so thank you, everyone.”
