Students mill outside the front entrance of Hoquiam High School shortly after a lockdown caused by a student claiming to have a weapon around 11 a.m. Tuesday. School officials and Hoquiam Police located the 14-year old student; a search turned up no weapon. The student was arrested for malicious mischief for damaging a door as he exited the school. The lockdown was lifted before noon.

Working with the cities of Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Cosmopolis, and the firm Stantec, money from the grant would be used to find locations that would most benefit from cleanup and revitalization of old manufacturing and industrial sites. One area of interest is the old Posey Plant area in East Hoquiam.
