At left, dump trucks enter and dump off loads of cobble and take away loads of soil removed by drilling. The white crane in the center drills the holes — 575 when it’s all said and done — and the yellow crane behind it uses a vibrating weight to drive in the shafts that will hold the cobble temporarily.
