Grays Harbor College places third at Spokane Open wrestling tournament

The Grays Harbor College Lady Chokers women’s wrestling team placed third at the Spokane Open on Sunday in Spokane.

GHC was led by Eden Lopez, Maysa Brown and Renaeh Ureste, each of whom placed second in their respective weight classes.

Lopez lost to Big Bend’s Jhaile DeGuzman via 12-0 technical fall in the 101-pound final match to place second.

Brown lost a narrow 12-10 decision to former Lady Chokers standout Tatum Pine (unattached) to take second in the 130-pound weight class.

Ureste placed second at 191 after losing via fall to Umpqua’s Zoey Smalley at the 2:00 mark.

GHC’s Alexandria Templeton-Kauffman won via 10-0 technical fall over Western Washington’s Parker Lastala to place third at 123 pounds.

The Lady Chokers tallied 102 points as a team to place third overall.

Umpqua placed first with 132.5 points followed by Evergreen State at 116.

Grays Harbor is set to host Simon Fraser University on Friday, Dec. 1 in Hoquiam followed by the Grays Harbor Choker Open on Saturday, Dec. 2, also in Hoquiam.
