Melanie Charlene Homchick passed away at Capital Medical Center on Jan. 8, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.
Melanie was born on April 27, 1961, to Bob and Louis Days in Monroe Hospital in Monroe, Washington. Melanie and her family moved to Long Beach, California. In 1968, Melanie moved with her mother and sister to Sultan, Washington. In 1971, Melanie and her family moved to Elma, Washington, where she finished high school and graduated in 1979.
She also met and married John Homchick Jr. They had two children together, Christopher Homchick and McKenzie Homchick.
Melanie was an avid horse woman. She qualified for judging Arabian Nationals in Albuquerque, New Mexico, owned her own Arabian Stallion and built a very successful breeding program. Melanie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and her family get togethers. Her passion was cooking and the annual Homchick BBQ. She always was so excited to see everyone each year.
Melanie kept the books for John’s logging company and was a force to be reckoned with in maintaining their farm up the Satsop.
Melanie was preceded in death by her daughter, McKenzie Homchick, and her stepfather, Bill Posey and brother Ray Posey.
Melanie is survived by her husband, John Homchick Jr.; her son, Chris Homchick; mother, Lois Posey; sisters: Midge Martin and Tina Darnell; brother, Bill Posey Jr., nieces Jo Beth and Jill Martin; and father-in-law, John Homchick Sr.
The family will be having a celebration of life on Feb. 18, 2023, at 2 p.m. located at Grace Community Church, 502 W. Main Street, Elma, WA 98541. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
