You’ll feel right at home at this family-owned restaurant

In Aberdeen, the Diner serves up delicious food and a family feel

When Kizzy Sanchez and her sister Tanya bought The Diner in Aberdeen, the former owner asked one thing of them.

“My sister and I bought the restaurant a little over a year ago,” says Sanchez. “Not only did the former owner give us a great deal, but he stipulated that we keep all the same staff – and we did!”

This aligns well with the family atmosphere at The Diner, located at the South Side Swanson’s. Truly a family run business, McMahan’s son and three nieces all work there! (Her 7 year old son Rory even helps out behind the scenes)

“This restaurant was my sister Tanya’s dream,” says Sanchez. “Due to medical reasons she’s no longer able to work or be a partner, but none of us would be here without her.

“I also want to mention my fiance Nick, who works full time at Amazon but still finds time to help me out with every shopping trip, or anything else I need.”

“The rest of our staff who aren’t actually related to us are family too. In fact we consider many of our regulars to be family as well,”

In fact, some of the locals feel so at home here that they came to The Diner for Thanksgiving dinner last year.

“Some of our regulars have been coming here for many years, and we are very grateful for them,” Sanchez says.

“We’ve built some really great relationships with our local regulars. We look out for them, and they look out for us.”

The friendships and family atmosphere are not the only reason people love coming to The Diner. People also rave about the great home-cooked meals.

“The Diner literally has the best food in Aberdeen,” wrote Cassie, on Facebook. “And the customer service that comes with it is absolutely phenomenal. If you like a relaxed, pleasant meal this is the place to be.”

One not-to-miss favorite for Frank, another happy customer? “Biscuits and gravy. Hands down!” he writes. “The food is amazing and the atmosphere is fun. Lots of local folks that spend time here and give it a nice small hometown appeal.”
