Cathie Ann Benedict passed away peacefully in her family home on June 2, 2022, after a five year battle with Mantel Cell Lymphoma. She is survived by her husband, Jim Benedict, and two daughters, Crystal Benedict and Sandra Halford, son-in-law David Halford and her grandchildren James & Emma Halford.

Cathie was born on Aug. 31, 1945, in Aberdeen, Washington to Clifford and Fabian Schoening. She grew up on the “South Side” and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1963. She married Jim Benedict on July 17, 1965, and was happily married for nearly 57 years. They had their first daughter, Sandy, in 1970 and eight years later welcomed Crystal to the family in 1978.

Cathie was loving and generous to her family and friends, always willing to give support to those in need. In addition, she was an amazing advocate for her handicapped daughter, Crystal, often stepping up to the challenge of making sure her needs were always met.

Her never-failing generosity and willingness to help and make others feel welcomed was something that many people admired.

Cathie also enjoyed cruising vacations with her husband Jim and frequenting casinos throughout the area.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Montesano Fire Department or a charity of your choosing in Cathie’s memory.
