Marilyn Jeannette Elway, 77, Cosmopolis resident and bookkeeper at Elway Plumbing in Aberdeen, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at her home in Cosmopolis, Wash.

Marilyn was born in Eugene, Ore., to Thor and Thelma (Wilson) Vaughn. She moved to Aberdeen in the first grade and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1957. She then graduated from Grays Harbor Community College with her AA and then worked for West Coast Airlines as a Flight Attendant for a couple of years.

On Feb. 17, 1961, Marilyn married Michael Elway in Cosmopolis.

Mike was drafted into the Army soon after marriage. She followed him to Texas and then to Mannheim, Germany. They returned to the harbor following his Honorable Discharge. In 1988, she went to work at Elway Plumbing as the bookkeeper.

She was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles Auxiliary and then to Elma Eagles Auxiliary. She at one time, was the Den Mother of Boy’s Scout and a Camp Fire Leader. She loved spending time with her grandkids and traveling.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mike Elway of Cosmopolis; Sons: Dennis Elway of Cosmopolis and Robert (Diane) Elway of Hoquiam; a daughter, Megan Elway and companion Craig Guarisco of Aberdeen; a brother Herb Vaughn of Montesano; and six grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Marilyn’s life on Friday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m. in Fern Hill Funeral Home’s Chapel. Afterwards, a pock luck reception at the Cosi Lion’s Club, 601 2nd Street, Cosmopolis.
