Members of the Montesano Veterans of Foreign Wars post celebrated Grant Edwards’ 100th birthday on Saturday.

Edwards, who lives in Aberdeen, is a lifetime member of the Monte VFW post.

He was born May 3, 1919, in Great Falls, Montana. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Dec. 11, 1939. During his 20-year Navy career, Edwards was stationed in San Diego, where he was in Hospital Corps School; Bremerton; aboard the USS Hendry attack transport; Aberdeen; Camp Pendleton, California; and El Toro, California. He transferred to the Navy Reserve on Aug. 1, 1960.
