Gloria Marie (Jordan) Fenton, formerly of Cosmopolis, Washington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Enumclaw, Washington with her family by her side. She was born in Aberdeen, Washington on Dec. 29, 1950, to Albert and Helen Jordan, one of six siblings. Gloria attended Hoquiam High School and graduated in 1969. She graduated from Cottey College in Missouri and continued her education at Grays Harbor College.

She married Steven Avery, and together they shared three children; Bruce, Aaron and Jeremy. Gloria found love a second time with James “Jim” Fenton in the early ‘80s. They married in August of 1994 and spent their lives together until his death in December of 2004.

Gloria lived in Cosmopolis for 34 years before joining her son Bruce’s family in Tennessee in her later years. Her early jobs were waitressing at Duffy’s, and secretarial work at Piper, Jaffray & Co. She worked at Grays Harbor College for 26 years, retiring from there.

Those who loved Gloria most understood her humor and outspokenness, something she was not shy about! She had a heart of gold and was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who would do anything for those she loved. She was a talented cook and baker and loved to share her delicious creations. She loved to read, sew, crochet, cross-stitch and spend time with family and friends.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Helen, siblings Bruce and Keith, and husband Jim. She is survived by her three sons, stepchildren and their families; Bruce (Robbie) Avery of Tennessee, Aaron (Jessica) Avery of Enumclaw, and Jeremy Avery of Aberdeen; Tammy (Dean) Questi and Michael (Lisa) Fenton of Olympia; siblings Cheri (Don) Wyatt of Belfair and Alan Jordan of Aberdeen. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Aberdeen Elks. Potluck items such as light snacks, appetizers and baked goods are welcome, especially if it is a recipe or dish that reminds you of Gloria.
