Richard Lee Blanchard passed away at the age of 64 just two months short of his 65th birthday and retiring, after a brief battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, and sister at his home in Hoquiam on July 24, 2026.
Richard was born in Aberdeen, Washington on September 13, 1961, to Robert Blanchard Sr. and Jeanie Marcou.
Richard was a true Harborite his whole life, starting his working career at R & M Shake and Ridge, Grays Harbor Veneer working alongside his Dad and ending a 40-year career at Weyerhaeuser/Pac Veneer/Willis Enterprises. He was the last original hiree.
He enjoyed spontaneous trips around Western Washington, vintage cars, and motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Jackie and granddaughter Kaylee of the family home, daughter Linzey of Centralia, sisters Joy Sackrider of Puyallup, Joyce (Tommy) Gronvold of Puyallup, Teresa Brown of Maple Falls, Washington, Jane Wright of Montesano, Joni (Jeff) Baker of Aberdeen, brothers Bob (Jana) Blanchard of Hoquiam, Donald (Mercy) Williams Sr. of The Villages, Florida, sister-in-law Kay (Dan) of Aberdeen, sister-in-law Sue Pringle of Olympia, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Baby Blanchard, daughter Rhea, niece Melissa, parents Robert (Nanci) Blanchard and mother Jeanie, and brothers Robin and Dale.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Central Park Baptist Church in Aberdeen.
Richard was an outstanding husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend and will be missed tremendously.
