McCleary police officer Randy Bunch placed on leave

At the city of McCleary special City Council meeting held on July 29, Mayor Brycen Huff provided a police department operational update. Unable to speak to the personnel issues that the city is currently navigating, he assured the attendees that “we do have coverage through the city.”

Following the meeting, there have been additional personnel changes that the City Administrator Darrin Raines confirmed to The Daily World.

On Friday, July 31, Officer Randy Bunch was placed on administrative leave, and Dani Reeves returned to work as the police clerk for the police department on Wednesday, Aug. 5. The city’s personnel directory has been updated to list Chief Ryan Miskell as the police chief although he remains on administrative leave.

Bunch is the subject of a formal complaint that Chief Miskell was investigating before his termination by Mayor Huff on July 20. Following the termination of Miskell, Bunch was named interim police chief. Miskell was subsequently reinstated and placed on paid administrative leave.

On July 27, Mayor Huff tendered his resignation with his last day in office being July 31. However, at the special City Council meeting, Huff announced that his last day would be that night.
