Clifford “Cliff” Duane Vessey

Clifford “Cliff” Duane Vessey, 93, a lifetime Aberdeen resident, died on Thursday, July 9, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born on April 29, 1933, to Charles and Juanita (Bagby) Vessey. Proceeded in death were brothers, David, Bob and Jim, and sisters Ramona and Nita.

Cliff grew up in the Ocosta area until his family moved to Aberdeen in 1946. During his teen years, he worked as pin setter at the local bowling alley, cutting and bailing hay and at the Hoquiam Chair Factory. He was drafted by the Army in 1953.

After being discharged in 1955, he began working at the Weyerhaeuser Sawmill. On Dec. 10 of that year he married Lila May Vidovich. During his lifetime, Cliff enjoyed spending time with his family and was quite the outdoorsman. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and clam digging. Upon retiring in 1997, he and Lila enjoyed traveling together. Every year, they would spend several weeks visiting family in Yuma, Arizona and Bend, Oregon. Other places they visited were: Nevada, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

Lila passed away in 2012.

He is survived by his son Ron (Patricia) Vessey of Normandy Park, Washington and his daughter Anita Krohn of Cosmopolis, Washington along with his grandchildren Amanda (Bryan) Nyman and Joey Korst both of Aberdeen, Washington including his great-grandchildren Wyatt and Abigail Nyman whom he loved dearly. Also, several special nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at United Christian Church in Aberdeen, located at 300 West 1st Street.
