Gary Glenn Buckman, age 89, passed away on April 17, 2026.

Born on Oct. 9, 1936, in Seattle, Washington, Gary spent his childhood in Colorado, graduated from Western Colorado University, served in the armed forces and then settled in Aberdeen in 1967 where he spent 29 years teaching at Aberdeen High School, retiring in 1996 after a long and meaningful career.

Gary had a gift for engaging with people. He was quick with a joke, loved a good funny phrase, and had a way of bringing lightness into everyday moments. Whether in the classroom, out and about in the community, or at home, he made people feel at ease and often left them smiling. His sense of humor was a constant thread throughout his life and something those who knew him will always remember.

Gary was deeply hardworking and never one to shy away from a challenge. He met life with determination, strength and a willingness to do whatever was needed, no matter the task. That steady, dependable nature shaped both his career and his support and care for his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife Tobi, and his children: Ty Buckman, Joelle Buckman, Michelle (Buckman) Kirkpatrick, Tiana (Buckman) Hale, Mark Buckman, Brianne Buckman, and Michael Buckman, along with 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A small private service will be held. Details will be shared with family and friends.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
