John Howard Benham, 71, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 25, 2026, after a long battle with esophagus cancer.

He was born on Aug. 9, 1954, to John and Joyce Benham in Santa Monica, California.

He was preceded in death by his precious daughter Amy, his parents John and Joyce Benham and brother-in-law Brian Fountain.

John is survived by his loving wife and best friend Rachael Benham; his sister, Debra Fountain, daughters Sara (Dan) Cagle and Stephanie (Nick) Rudolph.

He is also survived by his stepsons Rick Mature, Jacob (Laura) Lane and Cody House, numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as his beloved 1956 Chevy Bel Air.

John was raised in Winlock, Washington until he and his family moved to Westport in 1971.

He graduated from Ocosta High School in 1972 and then worked at the Weyerhaeuser sawmill for 37 years in Cosmopolis until it closed.

He loved fishing, hunting and camping on the river with his family and friends.

John will be forever remembered fondly by his numerous family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Ocosta Rec Hall, 45 Ocosta 6th St., Aberdeen, WA 98520

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
