The list of Western Washington cities proclaiming Red Cross Month hit an all-time high in 2026, with local officials recognizing the tremendous impact being made in their communities, according to a news release from Red Cross.
Red Cross month is a nationwide celebration to honor those who embody the humanitarian mission, including the volunteers who comprise 90% of its national workforce (92% in Washington state).
Through volunteering with local Red Cross chapters, they help people in need by responding to disasters, supporting blood collection, teaching lifesaving skills and providing comfort and care in emergencies.
Volunteers are also generous blood donors, platelet donors, financial donors and supporters who power the Red Cross’s lifesaving mission, the news release stated.
Cities all across Washington have proclaimed March as Red Cross Month.
Whether or not residents volunteer, all are invited to celebrate Red Cross Month this March by visiting the local redcross.org page, signing up to volunteer, scheduling an appointment to donate blood, taking a class in lifesaving skills or making a financial donation.
Red Cross Month culminated with Red Cross Giving Day on Wednesday, March 25. It was an opportunity for people to come together and power humanitarian work across the country. Donations can be made at redcross.org/GivingDay.
